for The True Small Business

The Biz Academy was designed to provides affordable coaching and consulting services that meet the specific needs of the True Small Business owner.

What Is A True Small Business?

As a Duct Tape Marketing coach, I regularly meet owners of businesses that I like to call True Small Businesses. These businesses typically have between one and five employees. The owners are working hard to grow and break through to the next level. These businesses face the same challenges as larger companies, but they have far fewer resources with which to do so.

A major source of frustration for the True Small Business owner is trying to find affordable help for growing their business. Because most companies that serve the "small business market" tend to focus on larger companies (those with 25 to 100 employees), their solutions do not fit the needs of the True Small Business. The solutions they offer are typically too complicated (overkill) and too expensive for the True Small Business.

Some business owners try to address the budget issue by buying books or attending seminars. This approach is also frustrationing because the lack of detail and support makes it difficult to apply the material to their specific situation. All too often, these books and seminar materials end up collecting dust on the bookshelf.

Another noticeable trend in the marketplace occurs when a company does reach a size where it makes sense to hire a traditional coach or consultant. The first thing they do is work on correcting the mistakes made when they were smaller and couldn't afford help. Wouldn't it be better if we could avoid those mistakes and expenses in the beginning?

After seeing this situation time and again, we started to ask - How can we provide the information and advice that the True Small Business owner needs to grow their business, with enough detail and support for them to implement solutions in their business, while making it available when and where they need it, all at a price that makes sense for the True Small Business owner's budget? The answer we came up with is the The Biz Academy.

What Is The Biz Academy?

The Biz Academy is a unique blend of education, technology, and people. There are four main components to The Biz Academy:

Notice that two of the four components (coaches and community) are people based. We believe it is essential to have people to turn to for help in order to be successful. This special emphasis on people is what sets The Biz Academy apart from other membership based web sites.

What Will I Learn?

The first courses will focus on small business marketing. Marketing is one of the most important areas of your business. It is also the one that tends to be ignored, in large part because of the challenges in finding practical, affordable help.

Our marketing courses are based upon the Duct Tape Marketing System. The Duct Tape Marketing System is a proven, step by step approach to creating a small business marketing system. Harvard Business School features the Duct Tape Marketing System as part of their business school education. The Duct Tape Marketing System has been recently featured in The Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine and CNN Money. Bill Brelsford is a Duct Tape Marketing Authorized Coach.

As this is a community based site, subjects will be added to meet the needs of the community.

How Much Does It Cost?

Your initial enrollment fee is $149. This includes course materials for the Marketing Foundations course, a detailed lesson plan, access to a coach, and access to the The Biz Academy resources for 30 days.
